History
Dormont is a borough situated in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It was named after the Americanized version of the French word “Mont d’or” which roughly means “Mountain of Gold”. This place became the first independent municipality in the South Hills of Allegheny County when the order of incorporation was signed on March 31, 1909.
Now, Dormont features a varying population made up of single professionals, working families and retirees. It’s also quite popular thanks to the Historic Dormont Pool, one of the largest municipal swimming pools in Pennsylvania.
