History

Coral Gables is one beautiful city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It is one of the first planned communities established in this area. This city was developed by George Merrick using Mediterranean architecture which makes this place one-of-a-kind compared to its neighboring cities.

It was developed during the Florida land boom in 1920s. Years passed and it continued to progress by putting up several establishments and having its very own chic downtown.

During the World War II, a lot of Navy pilots and mechanics were trained and housed here.

And at present, Coral Gables is infamous for having strict zoning regulations. It’s also where you’ll find the University of Miami.

Area and Lifestyle

Dubbed as “City Beautiful”, Coral Gables offers gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired architecture with fancy boutiques and great restaurants which makes this place really great for both visitors and locals. There are dozens of dining and entertainment options located around town. Plus, it’s only less than 7 miles away from downtown Miami so those who’d like to go there can do so anytime.

Miami is famous for its resorts and beaches and Coral Gables has quite a few of them. The Venetian Pool is a historic, public swimming pool which features its very own waterfalls. Well, if you prefer having some fun in the sand, then there’s Matheson Hammock Park. It’s a 630-acre urban park, which features a beach, marina and boat launch. Here, you can do Kiteboarding, kayaking, or picnicking. It’s the perfect place to bring your family.

Art lovers can visit the Lowe Art Museum, which features 5,000 years of world art on display.

For some gastro-adventure, there’s the Bulla Gastrobar, a place that serves cocktails and excellent food. Don’t forget to try out their signature “huevos Bulla” which is a mix of eggs, Serrano ham, and house-made potato chips topped with potato foam and truffle oil.

There’s also Greenstreet Café which serves your local American breakfast meals. If you like a mix of Caribbean, Latin and South American Cuisine, then head down to Havana Harry’s for some delectable South American food.

With these many interesting things to do, Coral Gables is truly something special!
